My Opinion
Soft Hearts by Eric Lodin is the first instalment in The Rett Swinson Mystery Series. I liked the plot as it focused not only on the murder but also on some critical social issues like Racism, Freedom and Mental Health Issues. The book is, definitely worth a one time read. Also, the mystery deepens more and more when we go further in the story. At a point of time, I was also confused about the murderer. The climax is also on the unexpected side.
Character Portrayal
I loved the characterization of Harriett Swinson and the eventual developments as the story advances in Soft Hearts A Rett Swinson Mystery by Eric Lodin. She struggles with her divorce which left her feeling weak and unwanted. But, on the other hand when the investigation starts, she finds herself in a new role which is a strong and confident one.
The Antagonists are shady and secretive ones which grills the mystery one step further. The tertiary characters have supported well in the story.
Narrative Style
Narrative Style of the story Soft Hearts A Rett Swinson Mystery by Eric Lodin is a simple one. The language is not too hard to understand. The events toggle between Wanda's past and present, but doesn't confuse the readers.
