Blurb

Seven researchers working on a language research headed by a reputed scientist from Yale with a chimpanzee as a subject move into Trevor Hall for carrying out their "Smithy" project to a new level. When they reached Trevor Hall they were awestruck with the grandeur of the mansion.

But, little did they knew that their mission will be turned upside down when their subject "Smithy" goes berserk. They were forced to shut down the research. Some of them thought that the mansion was haunted which led to the disturbing events.

What was the truth? Was Trevor Hall really haunted or it was just a rumour which found its place in the head of the residents?

My Opinion

Smithy by Amanda Desiree is a horror genre book , but it lacks the basic horror element. The book starts slow, picks its pace in between and ends abruptly. I was expecting some more jump scares and action. It also lacks the eeriness which should be present in the mansion. The cover is reflective of the book description and I liked it.

After reaching the middle of the story my hopes were very high, but the ending was rather disappointing. In the end, I was just like hanging in the middle that what really happened.

I would rate it as a four star book.

Character Portrayal

If we talk about the characters in the book, Smithy by Amanda Desiree, they are young researchers and have been portrayed well. The characters have also developed themselves throughout the study which was justified.

I felt, Wanda, Assistant Researcher was little bit on my nerves when she denied every theory suggested by juniors.

Narrative Style

Smithy by Amanda Desiree is a record of diaries written by the researchers. Apart from the diary entries, the story is documented with memos, interviews which describe the incidents perfectly. The narration is unique and creative.
