Blurb

Troy, a city which is full of prosperity and luxury, but one prophecy changed its full course in the history. Paris, son of Priam and Hecuba, is bestowed with a boon from Aphrodite in the form of Helen, wife of Menelaus. Paris visits Sparta for Helen and returns to Troy with her.

As soon as Menelaus comes to know about this, he and his big brother, Agamemnon declares war on Troy. It took them 10 years to attack Troy and declare victory. But, the war was not only between Sparta and Troy, whole Greece was embroiled in this bloodlust scenario including Gods.

My Opinion

Incredible, Bloodlust and Mythical Tale

Troy by Stephen Fry is a fantastic mythological tale of a once prosperous city of Troy. I have read about Troy before but not in such an amazing and detailed way. The author has traced the lineage of Greek gods and their sons, kings and queens extensively. And, the description of war is so detailed and extensive that I felt like I was standing amidst the fight. Also, the author has annexed a list of all the characters at the end of the book.

I would give 5 stars to the book for its extraordinary imagery of a tale so old and wonderful. Although, the climax was a little bit disturbing.

Narrative Style

Troy by Stephen Fry is an enigmatic tale of war between Sparta and Troy. The characters have been remarkably defined from their family origin. The author has described each and every one of them including Gods right from the very beginning. The events are narrated in proper synchronization so that the plot would not confuse you.

Character Portrayal

Each and every character is important in the book Troy by Stephen Fry. You cannot afford to miss the details drawn out by the author. It helps in better understanding of the story. The author has even lined out all the achievements and failures of the Kings and Gods.
