Author Introduction

Sarah Hawkswood describes herself as a ‘wordsmith’ who is only really happy when writing. She read Modern History at Oxford and her factual book on the Royal Marines in the First World War, From Trench and Turret, was published in 2006. The Bradecote and Catchpoll series are her first novels.

She takes her pen name from one of her eighteenth century ancestors who lived in Worcestershire, and selected it because the initials match those of her maiden name. She is married, with two grown up children, and now lives in Worcestershire.

She is a member of the Crime Writers’ Association, the Historical Writers’ Association, and the Historical Novel Society.

My Opinion

Fast, Brilliant & Mysterious

Wolf at the Door by Sarah Hawkswood is a brilliant story with a perfect plot. A medieval story with lots of plot twists and surprises. The story will take you on a journey to medieval England. The cover is also a catchy one. I would highly recommend this book if you are a mystery fan. The book is a real Page- Turner and its a crime to miss such an amazing book. The climax was totally unexpected and mind blowing. I would give 5 stars for the book.

Character Portrayal

I am in really love with the characters. My favorite character is Under Sergeant Walkelin. A young officer entangled between his personal and professional life is very interesting. The Antagonists are wonderfully portrayed. I would not say that there are strong character developments as they already have a substantial position in the story.

Narrative Style

Wolf at the Door by Sarah Hawkswood is narrated from author's POV. The narration perfectly describes England and its medieval time. Also, the author has presented a crisp and concise story with no un- necessary characters and events.
