Why did I choose the book?

Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle have always been my favorite. So, when I saw another ARC on Edelweiss where Sherlock Holmes is being re-written with a new plot, I thought that the opportunity to read the book, Sherlock Holmes & The Singular Affair by M K Wiseman should not be missed.

Where to get the book?

The book, Sherlock Holmes & The Singular Affair by M K Wiseman is available on Amazon :

Author Introduction

M. K. Wiseman, author of Sherlock Holmes & The Singular Affair has degrees in Interarts & Technology and Library & Information Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her office, therefore, is a curious mix of storyboards and reference materials. Both help immensely in the writing of historical novels. She currently resides in Wisconsin but dreams often of her childhood home in New Mexico.

She has written a number of titles like Sherlock Holmes & The Ripper of Whitechapel, Bookminder Series and Magical Intelligence.

Blurb

Sherlock Holmes, our famous detective is on a look out for another thrilling adventure.

That is, when a client, Miss Eudora Clarke arrives for a consultation with Sherlock. She is of belief that her love interest Mr. Tobias Henry Price is replaced by an usurper. Sherlock starts his investigation and unfolds scandals and murders which eventually risks his own life.

Will Sherlock be able to find the real Tobias Henry Price? What grave dangers await for him?

My Opinion

M K Wiseman has done a commendable job in Sherlock Holmes and The Singular Affair. Although, I cannot compare the book with that of Arthur Conan Doyle. The book still lacks that thrilling aura which you get while reading Sherlock Holmes. The plot is good and the author has perfectly described Sherlock in his early days. I also liked the cover which depicts the plot. The book has adventure, action and mystery. I would give the book 4 stars. Thanks to Edelweiss for the DRC.

Character Portrayal

M K Wiseman in her book Sherlock Holmes and The Singular Affair has shown our detective in his early days. He lacks finesse but still the author has done a good job. The antagonist have been portrayed fierce which sparks interest.

Narrative Style

Sherlock Holmes and The Singular Affair by M K Wiseman is a single POV narration. The language is simple and simple to understand. The author has maintained the historical touch in the narration.
