Author Introduction

Bruce Nesmith a mid west guy born and bred. At least he thought he was until he moved to the east coast. Now he's a bit of both. Bruce love different things about each of those two areas of the country. Professionally, each contributed something different to his career path.

Bruce started out working for TSR, Inc. in Wisconsin. He did two tours of duty there, as a programmer for a bit, but primarily as a writer and game designer. Also, wrote all kinds of things from Dungeons & Dragons materials, Marvel Superheroes products, Gamma World supplements, and board games. Nesmith had the great honor of turning Tracy Hickman's Ravenloft adventure into a campaign setting.

Eventually, Bruce left the halls of TSR, Inc. for the green, Maryland pastures of Bethesda Softworks, maker of video games. He worked on Elder Scrolls games and Fallout games. Also, he had a second great honor of being the lead designer on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Blurb

An epic journey into Norse Mythology, immortals living today. What if Loki was never the bad guy?

Loki, once a god, now nothing more than a stage magician in modern-day Chicago…

…his enemies from a thousand years ago have long memories.

Victors wrote the history, and Loki was blamed for the sins of the Norse gods. They can’t let him live in peace.

He has to set aside his new life to settle old grudges while coming to terms with what it means to be a man.

And a god.

If Loki fails, the nine realms will fall.

Mischief Maker breathes new life into Norse mythology, reinterpreting the legends through Loki’s modern lens.

My Opinion

Mischief Maker by Bruce Nesmith is a Norse Mythology book based on Gods and Wars. I have never read any Norse Mythology books before it. I was quite fascinated, how the author has penned down every detail about Gods and their rule. In all the stories which I have heard earlier about Loki were a different tale telling. But, in this one the author has written it from Loki's point. I really enjoyed the book. It was worth a read. The climax is also a bit on the different side.

I would award 4 stars to the book. Thanks to Book Review Crew for providing me an opportunity to read the book.

Character Portrayal

Of all the characters in Mischief Maker by Bruce Nesmith, you will be fascinated by Loki's character. He is a God of Mischief, but how did he got his name is an interesting chapter. The author has shown him not only as a magician but also as a warrior.

Tertiary characters have all well supported the plot. But, eventually our main character steals the spotlight.

Narrative Style

I liked the fact how Bruce Nesmith in his book Mischief Maker has narrated Loki's POV. It was really a different experience from what we already know about Norse Gods. The language is simple and easy to understand. But, for me the names were a little bit difficult to remember.
