Author Introduction

Dr.Stuart is a PhD graduate who writes reviews and articles about movies, comics, and videogames.

He also writes short stories, novellas, and novels from time to time with a specific focus on the macabre, black comedy, and a skewed perspective of everyday life.

“Cursed Legacy” is Harriet Everend’s debut novel. Ms. Everend has always wanted to be an author since she was young. She attended the University of Northern Iowa to pursue an English degree, but ended up changing her focus of study and earned her B.A. in Marketing from Upper Iowa University in 2011. Harriet was born and raised in small-town Iowa, currently resides in Cedar Rapids with her husband, 3 cats, and 1 dog. Some of her other hobbies include kayaking, scrapbooking, genealogy, going on winery tours, and spending time with her closest friends.

Jessica wrote her first book at age six. Between the ages of ten and eighteen, she had written ten full-length fiction novels as a hobby in her spare time between school and work. At age eighteen, she left her hobby behind and joined the British Army as an Intelligence Analyst where she spent the next four and a half years as a soldier. She attempted to write more novels but was never able to finish them. She is now a wife and a stay-at-home mum to a crazy toddler and lives in Edinburgh. During the first national lockdown of 2020, she signed up on a whim to a novel writing course, and the rest is history. Her love of writing came flooding back, and she managed to write and finish her debut novel, The Darkness Within Ourselves, inspired by her love of horror and thriller novels.

You’re cordially invited to LaVey House…

The reclusive Howard LaVey has presented writers Frederick Brandis, Aster Callahan, Rhiannon Hughes, and Mikhail Orlov with the opportunity of a lifetime: a chance to spend a week at his ominous estate and collaborate on a horror anthology.

Each of them hopes to get something out of it, ranging from riches to recognition, but egos flare and co-existing becomes a struggle as each writer battles against their own demons and self-doubts.

Soon enough, LaVey House turns out to be much more than they bargained for, and the chance of a lifetime quickly becomes a living nightmare as ancient spirits awaken and torment them at every turn.

Four writers, four stories, but the true horror lies buried within the dark hallways and forgotten secrets of LaVey House just waiting to live again!

The Summoning is an intense horror collaboration from the minds of Dr. Stuart Knott, Harriet Everend, and Jessica Huntley and featuring contributions from Alice Stone, Shantel Brunton, Tom Schnipke, and Daria Lavrenteva.

My Opinion

A New Kind of Horror

The Summoning by H. Everend, Dr. Stuart Knott and Jessica Huntley can be stamped as a new and fresh drop in the world of horror. With a mysterious plot, the book succeeds in keeping your interest right from the beginning. My favorite part were the short stories sewn in the plot. The climax is going to thrill you as it totally turns out to be an unexpected one. Also, I loved the characters as they become more and more intense throughout the story.

I would, definitely give the book 5 stars. Thanks to the authors and Shantel Brunton and Alice Stone for providing me an opportunity to read and review the book.

Character Portrayal

The whole book, The Summoning by H. Everend, Dr. Stuart Knott and Jessica Huntley, focusses on 5 characters. Each character deals with a traumatic past. But, as we get deeper and deeper into the story they become more and more strong. The author has excellently portrayed them, and I just loved them.
