Author Introduction

Mary was born in Cardiff and have retained a deep love for her Welsh roots. She worked as a nursery teacher in London, and then taught Deaf children in Croydon and Hastings . For nearly thirty years now Mary has been lucky enough to live on the beautiful Isle of Wight.

Mary's writing career started with self-publishing three novels, Free to Be Tegan' , 'Hidden Chapters' and 'Behind the Smile' alongside two free anthologies of short stories 'Catching the Light' and 'Making Changes'.

In 2020, she started working with the amazing Boldwood Books who published my first murder mystery, ‘The House Party.' This is set on the Isle of Wight, and as with all their books is available worldwide in print, eBook and audiobook.

This book was followed by two more island murder mysteries, 'The Island' and 'Good Neighbours.'

In March 2023 Boldwood Books published the first in her new series featuring amateur detective Susan Flynn and her partner Alice called 'Death at Castle Cove.' These are murder mysteries, classic whodunnits. They are set in the present day but are inspired by many years of reading Agatha Christie!

Blurb

Island life suits Susan, and she can’t imagine ever moving from her beloved Isle of Wight. So it gives her real pleasure to see her young lodger Colette settle in to life by the sea, especially knowing that she has such a troubled past.

Susan’s days are comfortingly routine, starting every morning by exercising her beloved Rocco on Ventnor beach with her fellow dog walkers. The group may have bonded over their fondness for their canine companions, but over time their friendships have deepened.

So, when Colette dies in suspicious circumstances at Castle Cove, Susan is devastated to realise that the dog walking group were the last to see Colette alive, and one of her friends must have been responsible for her death. ;

And when Susan begins to suspect that the police are minded to put Colette’s death down to an accident, Susan decides she won’t rest until she solves the mystery and finds the murderer.

My Opinion

Death at Castle Cove by Mary Grand is a whodunnit mystery set on an island. The book is for amateur detective fans. Thrill starts right from the beginning of the plot. After that it was a roller coaster ride, hunting down the murderer. All the characters come under suspicion and when you think that the climax is finally here, the story takes a steep turn, totally unexpected. I really enjoyed the book.

I would like to give the book 4 stars to the book. Thanks to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for providing me with an opportunity to read and review the book.
