Author Introduction

Dame Agatha Mary Clarissa Christie, Lady Mallowan, (15 September 1890 – 12 January 1976) was an English writer known for her 66 detective novels and 14 short story collections, particularly those revolving around fictional detectives Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. She also wrote the world's longest-running play, the murder mystery The Mousetrap, which has been performed in the West End since 1952. A writer during the "Golden Age of Detective Fiction", Christie has been called the "Queen of Crime". She also wrote six novels under the pseudonym Mary Westmacott. In 1971, she was made a Dame (DBE) by Queen Elizabeth II for her contributions to literature. Guinness World Records lists Christie as the best-selling fiction writer of all time, her novels having sold more than two billion copies.

Blurb

Lymstock is a town with more than its share of scandalous secrets—a town where even a sudden outbreak of anonymous hate mail causes only a minor stir.

But all that changes when one of the recipients, Mrs. Symmington, commits suicide. Her final note says “I can’t go on,” but Miss Marple questions the coroner’s verdict of suicide.

Soon nobody is sure of anyone—as secrets stop being shameful and start becoming deadly.

My Opinion

The Moving Finger by Agatha Christie is set in a small village where someone is writing poison letters to the residents. At first, the story felt very interesting. But, after a few pages the plot goes here and there with nothing important. Although, it picked its pace and again fell flat. There is nothing unusual or different in the story. Maybe, Miss Marple's stories are not my cup of tea at all.

I could only give 3 stars to the book. Thanks to agathachristie.com for allowing me to participate in this challenge and read the book.

  1. Sittaford mystery is one of the best cases of Miss Marple if you like to review it. It has been recently adapted into a Indian thriller show with the name "Charlie Chopra and the mystery of Solang Valley" available on Sony Liv.
