The Story of Maya is as the name suggests, the story of a young woman, Maya and her struggle with a major mental health condition called Schizophrenia. The book is an attempt at highlighting the practical challenges faced by individuals who deal with mental health issues on a daily basis and the challenges faced by their family members who support them as caregivers. It also aims to convey that even people with mental health issues can lead successful lives, provided they get the right support from doctors, family members and society in general.

My Opinion

The Story of Maya by Mallur Sandeep narrates a heart touching story of Maya whose whole life becomes an entangled web. The plot starts with a very interesting tone and absorbed me immediately. The author's beautiful and eclectic writing style makes the book an amazing experience. Maya's character development was immense and acted like the pillar of the whole plot. But, if I talk about the climax it was an unexpected blow. The climax was totally different from what narrated in the story. I felt that there was much more to write in between the lines. But, the book was a short read of a few pages and perfect for beginners. 

Other characters also have a distinct place in the story but Maya overshadows everyone. Also, a very important issue of mental illness and its effects on the patient's families have also been highlighted. It was really moving and emotional. Definitely, the book deserves 4 stars and thanks to the author for providing me with an opportunity to read and review the book.
