My Opinion

The Life of Tolka by Niveditha Preeth and Nitin Chopra takes you into the harrowing days of the Russia-Ukraine war. The title of the cover is attractive, and to ascertain the meaning of "Tolka" you need to read the book. I liked the underlying story of the book, as its main focus is on the war-torn Ukraine. The events jump between the past and present. My favorite parts are the quotes of some eminent authors in each chapter. But, somewhere, I felt that the author wanted to show us many things through his words, but they were at a loss for words.

I have read some books based on the world war in the past, and if I compare the writing, the story gives you jitters with glimpses of war. With every page, I was trying to find the pain of the citizens of Ukraine woven in between the lines. Although there were some parts that showed the emotions of the author, I have seen harrowing details on news channels about the war, and with that mindset, I chose the book.

The book is totally focused on the author's personal encounters with war, which you should definitely keep in mind while reading to enjoy the book. The pictures are truly amazing and full of sadness. Everything was lost in a matter of seconds. The book is worth a one-time read if you have not come across any books based on war.
