The Boyfriend | Freida Mcfadden | Psychological Thriller | Book Review

❝What do you think are the worst parts of dating❞❓❓

I once dated someone who used to point out my flaws straight to my face. At the time, it felt awful and really got to me. But looking back on it now, I can't help but laugh at how ridiculous and amusing those moments seem.

She's looking for the perfect man. He's looking for the perfect victim.

Sydney Shaw, like every single woman in New York, has terrible luck with dating. She’s seen it all: men who lie in their dating profile, men who stick her with the dinner bill, and worst of all, men who can't shut up about their mothers. But finally, she hits the jackpot.

Her new boyfriend is utterly perfect. He's charming, handsome, and works as a doctor at a local hospital. Sydney is swept off her feet.

Then the brutal murder of a young woman―the latest in a string of deaths across the coast―confounds police. The primary suspect? A mystery man who dates his victims before he kills them.

Sydney should feel safe. After all, she is dating the guy of her dreams. But she can’t shake her own suspicions that the perfect man may not be as perfect as he seems. Because someone is watching her every move, and if she doesn’t get to the truth, she’ll be the killer’s next victim...

My Opinion

The Boyfriend by Freida Mcfadden is a psychological thriller that keeps you on edge with every page you turn. This one is my first book by the author. The plot is fast-paced with well-placed characters, each having a story going on behind their back. The twists and turns were fantastic, with my heart racing with every incident. I liked all the characters. I was like praying for the main character to not act stupid. I was literally shouting inside me that why the hell she is so careless. But, I guess the character is meant to be like this to take the story further. I enjoyed a lot while reading it. The climax was exploding, and if you are looking for a wonderful thriller for this Christmas, then definitely this one is for you. The book definitely deserves 5 stars.
