Sometimes the greatest tragedies aren't the ones the world can see—they're the silent ones unfolding within us. A soul rarely breaks in a single moment; it fractures little by little under the weight of unspoken pain, guilt, expectations, and loneliness. We often become experts at hiding our wounds behind ordinary smiles, forgetting that healing begins only when we acknowledge what hurts. Perhaps the heaviest battles are not fought against the world, but within the quiet corners of our own minds.
Some books entertain you. Some disturb you. And then there are books that quietly linger long after you've turned the final page.
But have you ever finished a book that had a great premise but just didn't work for you? I'd love to hear your picks! 📚ðŸ’

She survived the crime. What followed was worse.
Sunaina’s life in Mumbai is full of promise—until a brutal sexual assault shatters it. When her attacker walks free and those closest to her fall away, she is left to confront the silence and stigma alone. A quiet friendship with her neighbour Rafiq becomes her only anchor, but her need for justice refuses to fade. Urged to start over in the U.S., Sunaina must choose between moving on and fighting back—a decision that will change her life forever.
My Opinion
The Day My Soul Died by Rishi Vohra is a contemporary fiction novel with an immersive plot. The storyline grabs your attention from the very beginning with its realistic characters. Everything moves at a brisk pace, and the plot masterfully captures the reader's heart through its emotional narrative.
This is not just the story of a woman fighting for her honour; it holds a mirror up to society. The book raises a burning question about society's tolerance towards crimes against women and challenges readers to reflect on these harsh realities.
Although I enjoyed the story and the author's writing style, I felt that Sunaina's character needed more depth by the end of the novel. Her struggles deserved greater exploration, which would have made the emotional journey and the conclusion feel even more impactful and cohesive.
