My Opinion
When the Moon Hits Your Eye by John Scalzi is a satirical take on how a single extraordinary event can provoke vastly different reactions from people across the world. I loved how the book explores the way a single calamity can make people see the same situation through completely different lenses.
While the wealthy view it as an opportunity to indulge their tastes and desires, ordinary people turn to religion, love, and their own beliefs to make sense of what is happening. This contrast between different mindsets is what makes the book particularly thought-provoking.
Although some of the individual stories felt a little too long, I really enjoyed the scientific explanations woven throughout the narrative—they added an intriguing layer to the story and gave me plenty to ponder. Overall, this book makes you pause and think about *human nature, individual mindsets, and how differently people react when faced with the unknown.
