Animal Farm | George Orwell | Political Fiction | Mini Book Review

Have you read this book ❓❓Why do the animals, despite their initial revolt for freedom, ultimately end up under a regime just as oppressive as the one they overthrew ❓❓

I think it was the ignorance and blind faith of animals that led them to their plight. They overthrew one dictator to become one.

“All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”

The mistreated animals of Manor Farm are inspired to revolt against their neglectful farmer, Mr. Jones, when Old Major, the wise boar, tells them of equality. But when the respected boar dies, the shrewd pigs Snowball and Napoleon seize control of the revolution, successfully drive out Mr. Jones, and establish Animal Farm, a place where every creature is meant to be equal.

But as power shifts, so does the dream. Snowball and Napoleon's rivalry escalates into dictatorship under Napoleon's iron fist. Tensions rise, alliances crumble, and the pigs' quest for dominance threatens to shatter their newfound freedom. Amidst battles, betrayals, and broken promises, the animals learn that revolution comes at a cost – and not all are willing to pay it.

George Orwell's timeless allegory of power and privilege remains as relevant today as it was upon its first publication. Through the eyes of its unforgettable characters, 'Animal Farm' offers a scathing critique of political hypocrisy and the dangers of surrendering freedom in the pursuit of power.

My Opinion

*Animal Farm* by George Orwell is a brilliant allegory that highlights how power can be both deceptive and corrupt. In the story, the animals overthrow the humans to escape exploitation, but soon, they find themselves under an even more oppressive regime. This mirrors the situation in many countries today, where power is misused, and some citizens blindly support their leaders due to a lack of awareness or education. Orwell’s narrative sheds light on how unchecked authority and ignorance can perpetuate oppression, even after revolutions.

The novel emphasizes the importance of education and critical thinking, suggesting that without knowledge, people can be easily manipulated. It also serves as a reminder that true freedom cannot exist when individuals or groups dominate and exploit others. Orwell's *Animal Farm* forces us to reflect on modern political systems and the importance of equality, accountability, and justice in society.

This classic book not only critiques totalitarianism but also serves as a timeless warning about the dangers of power and the need for an informed, vigilant population to prevent history from repeating itself. Its lessons are as relevant today as when it was first published.
