"What is the one thing in your life that drives you the most and keeps you motivated, no matter what?"
What keeps me going is art itself—just the thought of creating something beautiful out of nothing. Whether it's painting, designing, or even just doodling, it gives me a sense of peace and purpose. The process of bringing an idea to life with colors and textures is what really keeps me inspired and motivated. Even on tough days, a blank canvas feels like a fresh start.

Aged thirteen, Theo Decker, son of a devoted mother and a reckless, largely absent father, survives an accident that otherwise tears his life apart. Alone and rudderless in New York, he is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. He is tormented by an unbearable longing for his mother, and down the years clings to the thing that most reminds him of her: a small, strangely captivating painting that ultimately draws him into the criminal underworld. As he grows up, Theo learns to glide between the drawing rooms of the rich and the dusty antiques store where he works. He is alienated and in love - and his talisman, the painting, places him at the centre of a narrowing, ever more dangerous circle. The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling power. Combining unforgettably vivid characters and thrilling suspense, it is a beautiful, addictive triumph - a sweeping story of loss and obsession, of survival and self-invention, of the deepest mysteries of love, identity and fate.

My Opinion
The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt is a powerful tale of love, loss, and survival that deeply moved me. The story follows Theo, a young boy whose life is shattered by tragedy, and through his eyes, we experience every twist and turn of his journey. What makes this book unforgettable is how it allows the reader to grow with Theo—his emotions, his mistakes, his moments of hope and despair all feel incredibly real.
The central symbol of the story, a stolen painting, is more than just an object—it becomes Theo’s anchor. As a painter myself, I could deeply connect with his attachment to art. It beautifully captures how art can be both a reminder of pain and a source of healing. This book isn’t just about a boy or a painting—it’s about how something fragile and beautiful can carry us through the darkest times. Truly, a captivating and emotional read. The book deserves 5 stars.
