Mallory is delighted to have a new job looking after gorgeous four-year-old, Teddy. She's been sober for a year and a half and she's sure her new nannying role in the affluent suburbs will help keep her on the straight and narrow.

That is until Teddy starts to draw disturbing pictures of his imaginary friend, Anya. It is quite clear to Mallory and to Teddy's parents, even in his crude childlike style, that the woman Teddy is drawing in his pictures is dead.

Teddy's crayons are confiscated, and his paper locked away. But the drawings somehow keep coming, telling a frightening story of a woman murdered... and they're getting more sophisticated. But if Teddy isn't drawing the pictures anymore, who is? And what are they trying to tell Mallory about her new home?

Jason Rekulak is the author of HIDDEN PICTURES, THE IMPOSSIBLE FORTRESS, and (coming in October 2024!) THE LAST ONE AT THE WEDDING. His work has been translated into 30+ languages. He lives in Philadelphia with his wife and children.

My Opinion

Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak is a must-read for fans of horror and thriller fiction. Every word in this chilling novel adds to its eerie, edge-of-your-seat atmosphere, making it nearly impossible to put down. The story begins on a deceptively light note, slowly creeping into darker territory with each turn of the page. This was my first experience reading Rekulak's work, and it was nothing short of amazing.

The plot of *Hidden Pictures* is packed with twists and turns that keep readers guessing. Just when you think you've figured things out, unexpected revelations surprise you, adding layers to an already suspenseful storyline. The characters are written with an air of mystery, each revealing secrets that unfold in surprising ways. Mallory, the protagonist, is an intriguing character; while she seems like an open book, I often found myself questioning her judgment, which only heightened the suspense.

The novel builds a palpable sense of horror and tension that intensifies with each chapter, making it the perfect book to read on a sleepless night. With its spine-tingling storyline, masterfully crafted twists, and richly developed characters, *Hidden Pictures* by Jason Rekulak earns a solid 5 stars. If you're looking for a thrilling read that will keep you on the edge of your seat, this book is sure to deliver.
